29日夕方、愛知県新城市の新東名高速のトンネルで、車が衝突し炎上する事故があり、現場付近がおよそ16時間にわたり通行止めとなりました。
警察と消防などによりますと、29日午後4時ごろ、新城市の新東名高速・下り「鳳来トンネル」で、走行中のトラックに乗用車が追突し、トラックの荷台が炎上しました。
この火事で、トラックの荷台と積んでいたプラスチック製のパレットなどが燃えましたが、トラックと乗用車の運転手にケガはなく、トンネル内にいた他の人たちも避難して、ケガ人はいませんでした。
警察によりますと事故の前に、車同士が衝突する別の事故があり、当時道路は混雑していたということです。
この事故の影響で、新東名高速は、新城IC=浜松いなさJCT間が上下で通行止めとなりました。
下りは、事故のおよそ16時間後の30日午前8時すぎまで通行止めが続き、年末の帰省ラッシュに大きな影響が出ました。
