イ・ジェミョン京畿道知事が「日本政府が軍国主義迷夢に捕われた保守右翼の影に置かれている」と強く批判した。これは去る30日、日本の文部科学省が教科用図書検定調査審議会を開き、黒審査を通過したと発表した教科書の中で社会科教科書30種の「独島が日本の固有の領土」という主張が入れられたのに伴う批判的に解釈される。
31日知事は、Facebookに「日本政府の独島挑発、自分で不幸になるだけです」というタイトルの文を載せて、このように書いた。 この知事は「来年から日本の高校の社会教科書に「独島は日本固有の領土」という主張が追加になった」と運をテミョ “も韓国が独島を不法占拠している表現が多数含まれたとする」と説明した。 続いて彼は「日本の保守右翼がまだ旧世界軍国主義迷夢にとらわれており、その影の下に、日本政府が置かれていることが全く嘆かわしい」と付け加えた。
この知事はまた、「日本は私たちと地理的・経済的に密接な隣国であるが、大韓民国の主権と尊厳を侵害する行為は容認できない」とし「日本の右翼のどんな挑発も強く対応する」と強調した。 それとともに、この知事は「両国の友好関係を損なう行為は賢明な日本国民の多数が望んでおらず、日本の政治が自国民を不幸にすること」とし「過去2018年の植民地支配の不法性を確認した韓国最高裁の正当な判決に日本政府は、国際法に反する無理な貿易報復を加えて、経済的地位墜落と孤立を自ら招いた」と指摘した。
彼は「日本政府が過去を否定し、歴史を歪曲して孤立を招いた場合、失われた10年が失われた30年になったのように、21世紀の遠くない時点で後進国に転落する」とし「日本政府の誤った判断が日本国民全体を不幸の奈落に追いやらことを望む」と指摘した。 この知事は「過去から学ばなければ、それを繰り返すことに決まっている」というフレーズで文を締めくくった。
実際、過去30日に日本の文部科学省が発表した教科書の中の歴史総合（12種）、地理学総合（6種）、公共（12種）の3つの社会科教科書30種すべての独島が日本の「固有の領土」という日本政府の立場が盛らだけでなく、韓国が独島を「不法占拠」しているという表現も含まれた。
